"Hope is the realistic expectation that things can get better. And I've built my company on that concept."
I was talking with my accountant this morning, and we're both agreeing we need to be hopeful that things can get better!
It's not that we're expecting the heavens to open and angels to plunk down and cure us. Rather, we have the realistic
expectation that things can get better.
Here's what I know after being around a minute...
Hope cycles through. Those of us who have been around know that when we're down, we know from experience that it's going to pass and we're going to bounce back and come back up and life is going to get better.
It takes a while sometimes. And sometimes we don't even realize that
we're doing better until something significant happens and you're like, "Oh, I handled that quite nicely."
Each time we go through one of those cycles, we learn and we grow and we pop stuff in the freezer for later.
, this is what makes peer supporters so powerful.
We've been through the hope cycles. We know that "it
can't get any worse" really is a hopeful statement because it means the only direction is up.
But our peers? They might be experiencing their first real crisis. Their first rock bottom. Their first moment of wondering if things will ever get better.
That's when they need us to hold hope for them. To be the proof that recovery is real.
But holding hope professionally
requires specific training...
How to recognize trauma responses. How to de-escalate crisis situations. How to maintain boundaries while being authentically supportive.
Our "Bringing Hope to Every Interaction" course was designed exactly for this.
Right now, you can get it - plus 8 other continuing education courses complete with a quiz and certificate -
for just $77.80. Normally it would cost $389!
