The 2020 Continuing Ed Calendar is HERE!
Published: Tue, 02/18/20
It is an exiting time here at Holding the Hope as we prepare for providing continuing education and WRAP classes again in 2020 for WA CPCs working in behavioral health setting! Some things stay the same: Sharon Holmes will be overseeing the entire project as the Holding the Hope Director of Training. She is a wealth of information on all Holding The Hope events. Belinda Eng continues in her role as Promotions Manager. Belinda will be contacting you via email and phone about workshops you have registered for and she will make sure you have the workshop slides, handouts and details for arriving and having a successful learning experience. You already received an announcement from Belinda about some upcoming workshops that you'll need to jump on to make sure you get in.
Some things are new - first off - we only have funding for classes through June. While we are anticipating continued support from DBHR through June 2021, we do not have it at this time. Given the late start and the short ending, we have a very compressed schedule between now and June 30th. To help you get what you need, we are doing things a little bit differently. All of the events are available for registration right now. Please be judicious in your selections. Look the attached schedule over and select the topics that best fit your learning goals. Perhaps review it with your supervisor and request time off well in advance. Belinda will still be sending out notices with flyers for upcoming months.
The no show policy is still in effect. Many workshops (especially WRAP) have limited seating and people who register and don't show, actually prevent others from utilizing that seat. The only way to cancel your workshop registration is through Eventbrite. If you miss two or more workshop without cancelling through Eventbrite, you will be put on our no-show list and will be unable to register for future events for 3 months once you've been notified. Cancelling through Eventbrite is easy. Belinda has created step by step instructions for registration and cancellation for your convenience and it is attached also. Given the limited scope of our events this next 3.5 months, we will be looking very closely at no-shows and will be strictly enforcing the policy.
Secondly - Holding the Hope is going green. We will not be proving plastic bottles of water, so please bring your own hydro flask or water bottle. All handouts will be emailed to you well in advance of the workshop. We encourage you to download the slides and handouts to your device so you can follow along. If you prefer, print them out for your own personal use. Handouts and slides will no longer be provided at the training site.
Thirdly - We made the tough decision to charge for our WRAP coursework materials. WRAP seminar 1 classes will still be free. WRAP seminar 2 classes (5-days) will be $125 and WRAP Refreshers will be $60. This decision was not made lightly. We determined that most, if not all, of the participants in these workshops are employed peers who have access to professional development funds.
Finally - Holding The Hope is expanding! We are expanding our menu of training topics through partnerships with Peers who are subject matter experts. These workshops will be affordable and relevant to your needs as certified peer counselors, recovery coaches and community health workers. We will also be providing workshops for supervisors and management. If you are a subject matter expert - watch for an upcoming announcement on how to apply to be part of the Holding The Hope faculty.
Whew! That's a lot of information. Please take time to review the attached calendar. We are so honored to be able to continue our services to all of you. I can't wait to see you again soon.
Stay Hopeful!
